Ewen Cameron

Lithograph
13"x16.5"

This Lithograph is a portrait of Ewen Cameron. Ewen Cameron was a psychologist who performed experiments on brainwashing for the MK-Ultra project for the CIA. You can look up details but all in all not really a very good dude, definitely wouldn't have had his experiments approved by any IRBs. I wanted to display this monstrous personality while still making it a realistic. There's more symbolism involved in the choice of the background as well, but won't add too much to the understanding of the piece.

Custom Skin...for cheaters

So I got jealous of some super awesome skins for laptops i've seen. I wanted to make a custom one but didn't want to pay to have it made. Solution? two pieces of clear contact paper and a sharpie. I wanted to showcase something im interested in (parkour/free running) and utilize that glowing mac symbol. This is what i came up with. And here's the free running video if you've never seen it.

Should have a new one out soon too!

Wood Cult! (print untitled)

This is my only moderately successful woodcut from this summer. I definitely struggled with the first few. The process took a while to get used to and it's really hard to work and be accurate. However, from a recent trip to the Center for Book Arts I have some new ideas on how to get some wicked detail. Also, pretty excited because Cam lent me his Roto-zip for another way to make marks....real fast and pretty accurate. Basically this piece was a way for me to conceptualize a drawing I did as a substitute for a guestbook at my sisters wedding this summer.

What Id become

Repeated single plate intaglio
5"x7"- 23.5"x7"

So I just finished this print today actually. Pretty pumped about it. Basically I took a self-portrait photo of myself, made it two-tone, and then made a plate off of that using just aquatint. The idea behind the portrait was trying to capture the the face that my Id would have (Freud's levels of consciousness). Essentially what I'd become (haha get it....what Id become) if i listened only to this aspect of my personality. Printing in successively darker hues illustrates that the Id can rule your actions as much as you allow it to. Me likes....hope you do too.

Clouds as Fragments of Mistakes

This piece entitled "clouds as fragments of mistakes" was my final project for drawing foundations in spring 2009. The concept behind it is the terrible and restrictive things that humans do in order to bend nature to suit their needs. Illustrated by the right angle tree bearing cubed fruit. The figure is supposed to represent that humans are in touch with the natural world by our nature of existence. It illustrates the fact that, while humans are indeed beautiful, many of the actions we carry out are not.

Completely unrelated i have no idea why this didn't post when i wrote it 4 months ago
